Already safe with Christ

I can't describe the nature of the obscenity on my blog, but recently an art exhibit which depicted Jesus Christ in a blasphemous and obscene manner was attacked and destroyed by a woman using a crowbar. The incident is both comic and tragic, but it is a typical sign of the times.

I don't want to opine, I just want to glorify Jesus, who is, was, and will be forever the King of Glory. If the arrest, the mock trial, the betrayal by His own people, the sentence of condemnation, the beatings and mockery by the soldiers, the nailing of His body to the wood of the cross, the further mockery at the place of the skull, His humble dying, and the piercing of His side with the lance, if these are not obscene enough, what further obscenity can be offered to the Lord of All in these modern, childish pranks that are called ‘art’? All they do is further demonstrate the utter fallenness and folly of the human condition, that man can salute his Maker and Savior with such filth. Pray, pray for the forgiveness of all, for as the fathers teach, ‘we are all deceived.’ And even more, let’s place our hopes for ourselves in Christ’s dying prayer, ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.’ The way of Christ, that which Christianity is, cannot be compared with any other ‘religion’ as to doctrines, practices, promises, or threats: they are all vain, they are folly, they stay their followers in their endless courses, while we who follow the Master and do what we see Him doing, are already safe with Christ, in the paradise opened by His undefiled body, enthroned on high, enthroned on the Cross, the Tree of Life.
