Nothing makes a man so humble as love.
We perform the offices of servants to our friends, and are not ashamed; we are even thankful for the opportunity of serving them. We do not spare our property, and often not even our persons; for at times, dangers are also encountered for him that is loved.
No envy, no calumny is there, where there is genuine love. We not only do not slander our friends, but we stop the mouth of slanderers.
All is gentleness and mildness. Not a trace of strife and contention appears. Everything breathes peace.

Christians must love all of their friends -- even their enemies -- because this an attribute of Christ. We must also be humble and treat all people with respect.
Beautiful!!!! I love this Quote.
Thank you for being an example of a loving believer, you truely shine with the light of christ...
O, how great and true it is! Love St. John Chrysostom so much... Thanks for sharing this with us brother Romanos!
How painful it is therefore to be wounded in 'the house of our friends',as Christ, David and Paul were - and perhaps all who desire to follow the way of the cross.Yet as the great writewr said it is better to have loved and lost than not to have loved at all:though he he is perhaps referring to a love between a man and a woman I think it still applies to love between Christians.
