St...As you know, I'm orthodox but not Orthodox. Still, I'll dare to leave a comment. There's much truth in this post. <br /><br />In every area of disagreement over theology or church practice, one side sees truth, and the other doesn't,...but we're all too blind to know for certain in which of the disagreements we're on the side of truth. Thus, we need love and humility toward those who disagree. We need to unite on the essentials. <br /><br />I'd point out that when someone advocates a position that I think is defective, it makes a huge difference WHY the person takes that position. If he or she came to the position by valuing "what feels right" over what the Lord's revealed, that's a major danger sign. On the other hand, it's much less significant if there are mere disagreements over interpretations of the Lord's will in a particular non-essential matter. We should not divide over things such as how much water to use in a baptism or whether there are valid new prophecies today or whether Jesus' return will be before the great tribulation or whether clergy should wear robes or whether to make the sign of the cross with two fingers or with three or not at all.
